With more than a million cases of musculoskeletal disorders reported each year by British workers, Power-Lift are making light work of manual handling with their extensive selection of custom built bespoke lift tables and bespoke scissor lifts.
Nigel Roberts, director at Power-Lift, said, “musculoskeletal disorders are certainly on the rise right here in the UK and this is down to poor education and a lack of adequate equipment. It is estimated that such disorders and injuries cost the British economy more than £5.7 billion each year from lost man hours and claims, which is why it is essential that employers adhere to the regulations laid down by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).”
According to the HSE, ‘more than a third of all over-three-day injuries reported each year to HSE and local authorities are caused by manual handling- the transporting or supporting of loads by hand or by bodily force.’
Under The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, as amended in 2002, employers should ‘Consider automation, particularly for new processes and think about mechanisation and using handling aids including a conveyor system, a pallet truck, an electric or hand-powered hoist or a lift truck’
Mr Roberts from the firm who specialise in pallet handling, added, “Here at Power-Lift we specialise in producing a range of bespoke options to ensure that manual handling injuries are taken extremely seriously.”
Power-Lift recently produced a bespoke lift table for the European High Speed Railway, which was designed to sit in a trench while mechanics take care of the essential maintenance of the drive motors underneath the trains.
This unique five tonne lift was designed with flexibility in mind and as a result the unit makes use of movement in the X, Y and Z axis and the lift bed can also be moved from left to right and rotated it if need be thanks to a turntable on the top layer of the lift.
The firm have also produced bespoke lift tables for many other global firms in the past including one for Rolls Royce to aid them in the servicing of plane engines and in the maintenance of jet liners.
