Keep in Position with Power-Lifts Ltd

Industrial lift table experts Power-Lifts designed and manufactured a unique, custom built hydraulic lift table for the efficient removal and replacement of 5 tonne motors and gear boxes on the High Speed Trains. This particular hydraulic lift works by being suspended off the tracks which are mounted onto the side walls of a service pit running under the entire length of the train.

The power lift bed itself supports an impressive five tonne capacity turn table, which is fitted onto a rack and pinion side shift. This allows users to manoeuvre the heavy loads in any direction, and accurately re-align the mounting points. In effect, the entire hydraulic lift unit can move forwards, backwards and rotate in addition to simply up and down.

“This is not just a lift table,” says Nigel Roberts of Power-Lifts. “This is an engineered piece of equipment that shows how versatile a well specified and properly designed lift unit can perform. This is what Power-Lifts, as leaders in the field do best.”

The professional power-lift unit comes complete with a ‘hold to run’ pendant control station, retracting cable drum and an integral electro- hydraulic power pack especially selected by the manufacturer to ensure long-term reliability and low noise emission. The hydraulic lift system comes with added operator safety in the form of galvanised steel mesh curtains. The curtains are suspended under all four faces of the lifting unit- this will restrict ingress to the undersides.

This is just one of many units custom built by Power-Lifts after a manual handling assessment that will help to reduce Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) and provide an efficient working environment. Power-Lifts recommends that purchasers always consult the latest edition of BS EN1570 ‘Safety requirements for lifting tables’.
